ITALIAN FULL-DAY: DOLCE VITA & DOLCEACQUA

FROM VENTIMIGLIA

LIGURIA - NERVIA VALLEY - GOURMET GETAWAY - DOLCEACQUA - VILLAGES - ART - CINEMA 3D - RIVERS

Are you on holiday on the French Riviera and want to escape for a day to discover nearby Liguria in Italy, and its mysterious valleys? This day trip is just what you're looking for, with a wonderful immersion in one of its most emblematic valleys, where the art of living (rich culinary culture & crafts) combines with natural wonders (natural pools, mountains, canyons) and the finest human endeavours (cultures, historical monuments, medieval villages, castles). A Premium Gourmet Option includes: breakfast, lunch & 3D cinema.

Spend a dream day in Italy on a top-class cycling trip through one of Liguria's most beautiful valleys. This is an area renowned for its authenticity, gastronomy, olive groves and vineyards, and also for its marvellous waterfalls and crystal-clear rivers nestling in the heart of the mountains. Local produces, natural treasures, gastronomy and handicrafts will all be on show during this unique day.

Depart from Ventimiglia station, easily accessible by train, for this extraordinary day out! After a few stops to soak up the flavours of Italy, we'll pedal leisurely along a seaside cycle path and join a riverside to follow the course of the Nervia valley to its most famous, wonderful and spectacular village:

  • Dolceacqua, its medieval bridge and castle, its labyrinth of narrow streets under arcades and a tasting of local products (wines & olive oils). Optional visit to the castle (or free time or short walk). This village, which seduced the painter Monet, is particularly picturesque, with the intertwined history of the great Doria (Genoa) and Grimaldi (Genoa-Monaco) families.
  • Lunch on your own
  • A 2nd medieval village in the valley will take pride of place during this discovery tour (depending on the season and the participants' level of fitness), for example Rocchetta (or another wonderful village), with its incredible village, its succession of natural waterfalls & crystal-clear waters (a Mecca for canyoning and a remarkable natural site at the entrance to the Parco Naturale delle Alpi Maritime).
  • Return to Ventimiglia via a spectacular panoramic road overlooking several valleys (if physical conditions permit) or via the cycle paths.

PREMIUM OPTION (ALL-INCLUSIVE) :

  • Breakfast included (hot drink + pastry/salted speciality)
  • Typical Ligurian lunch in one of the valley's best restaurants (hearty and delicious) to sample the best of Ligurian cuisine.
  • Watch a multi-sensory 3D cinema documentary showing all the most beautiful wonders of the valley (35 mins) + scale models (village & castle) and unique wooden floors (exceptional woodwork).
